Biography Sigurd Schmidt studies music-theory und composition at Professor Hans Poser and Professor E. G. Klussmann. After 2 Semesters he changed his main subject to Guitar and Lute without ending his Work for Professor Hans Poser.
He also studies at Professor Eike Funk in Hamburg and Professor Heinz Teuchert in Frankfurt und end his studies with the graduation and diploma from the Hamburg Academy of Music. He finished his diploma thesis in detail about the different plot-technics of the right hand and the rest-stroke which is very important for the nailplaying.
As the initiator and direcotr of the "Parnass-Gitarrentrio" he had a lot of concerts. He also starts a solo career.
A lot of Studio Recording, Broadcasting, Theater- and Opera Events ensued.
The deep involvement with the hermetic philosophie of the Renaissance (G. Bruno, Agrippa, R. Fludd, J. Dee a.s.o.) and the Lutemusic of this period - he denotes this as the "cult of melancholie" - he decided to leave the guitar nailplaying and changed to the Lute and Barockguitar.
Beside his musical appeal he has a lot of interests, for example medicine, ethnological awareness or faith philosophie.
Today, Sigurd Schmidt lives as private scholar in the region of "Lüneburger Heide". He keep in touch with other Lute-Player and is focused on his own Lute-Player concert activity.
